Pat McGooden Memorial Trades Scholarship – sponsored by friends of Pat, Harry & Kristin Crouse Family
Being uncommon and choosing your own path is something to be proud of. Our friend Pat offered advice to both youth and adults, solicited or not. Weather he was providing horsemanship advice, “your horse was born to run teach it to walk” or personal advice like, “get to living” or, our favorite advice, “be uncommon”.
Having self-awareness, motivation, and discipline is something that takes some people years to discover. The trades industry is a perfect place to establish your specialty, utilize your skills, and apply your talents to jump start your career so you can “get to living”.
Weather your dream is to become a professional plumber, welder, beautician, horse shoer, or manure pumper, the trades industry provides unlimited opportunities. If you are earning a certificate or a degree in a trade you may apply for this award.
This scholarship awards $1,250 to a boy and $1,250 to a girl learning a trade. It will likely come with the support and unsolicited advice from yours truly, Harry Crouse.
To apply, write an essay detailing your plans, the action steps you expect to take to learn your trade, and path you expect to take once you earn your certificate or degree. You will also be required to interview with the scholarship committee. The scholarship earners receive their award upon completion of their education. Please bring your essay with you to your scheduled interview!
In memory of Broc Cresta, his family and friends have established the Broc Cresta Memorial Scholarship Fund. Broc’s undeniable sound character, determination and commitment in and out of the arena resulted in an unforgettable and life-long impact on others. Because of this, the Scholarship Fund was created to continue to impact the lives of young students across the country. We would like to encourage all High School Seniors with plans on completing further education to apply for a Broc Cresta Memorial Scholarship.
To be eligible for a Broc Cresta Memorial Scholarship, high school seniors must be an active member in a rodeo or roping association, FFA and/or 4H. They must also plan to continue their education through a university, college and/or technical trade school. The Scholarship is a nationwide Scholarship, and applicants do not have to reside in California to be considered.
Please encourage your students to visit www.broccrestamemorial.com/scholarship to learn more, download an application or apply online. The Scholarship application deadline is March 17th.
