Director’s Meeting
June 22, 2007
The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held their directors meeting Friday, June 22, 2007 at Hastings. President Loren Gorsuch called the meeting to order. Board members present were Dale D. Arensdorf, Kelli Blevins, Tim Cover, Adam Cross, Rita Dobbins, JD Hoover, Darrell Kraupie, Mark Lovitt, Robin Meier, Lori Schafer, Tim Sierks, and Tricia Schaffer. New directors Andy Wearin and JR Clark. Secretary Becky Dailey.
Ann Helberg & George Hipple also was present.
Minutes of the May 12, 2007 minutes were read. Lori Schafer moved to approve minutes as read, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Motion carried

Dale Arensdorf reported that there was $33,000 brought in in sponsorship for the 2007 state finals.
Ann Helberg met with the board showing interest in writing grants to help with the financial aspect of the association.
John Nickless with the O’Neill High School Rodeo committee met with board with concerns about the parking and the drag. The board asked him to put signs up informing the public about the rodeo and to be careful.
George Hipple met with board about his concerns about the vending hours during the state finals and the work he puts into the calendar without receiving anything for his work and time.
Tricia Schaffer moved to use Hipple photography for the 2008 calendar and have Lori Schafer and Rita Dobbins be in charge of the calendar and George Hipple will receive $1,000 in-kind sponsorship for 2008, seconded by JD Hoover, motion carried.
Sandy met with board about 52 stalls that had not been paid for but are being used. The board will help collect the money.
Lori Schafer suggested that the 50/50 money raised be designated for scholarships.
President Loren Gorsuch moved to go into executive session at 3:40 PM. Tricia Schaffer moved to come out of executive session at 3:58 PM, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Motion carried.
Tricia Schaffer moved as presented the following director assignments with the option of poles and barrels depending on JR Clark and Cindy Coffman what event they chose, seconded by Dale D. Arensdorf.
Bareback – JD Hoover
Saddle Bronc – Darrell Kraupie
Bull Riding – Tim Sierks
Calf Roping – Loren Gorsuch
Steer Wrestling – Mark Lovitt
Team Roping – Adam Cross & Tim Cover

Darrell Kraupie moved that Shea Henderson receive the Hugh Sherman Buckle, seconded by Tim Cover. Motion carried.
Nominations for Teskeys Top Hand Scholarship are – Cody Nichols, Chanda Davis, Destri Millsap, and Brett Gumb. Lori Schafer moved nominations ceased, seconded by Tim Sierks. Destri Millsap will receive the Teskeys Top hand Scholarship.
Nominations for the WW Livestock Scholarship are – Jennifer Sherman, Cody Nichols, Nicole Parkhurst. Tim Sierks moved nominations ceased, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Cody Nichols will receive the WW Livestock Scholarship.
Nominations for the Seidel Scholarship is Billy Barthel, Jennifer Sherman, and Kandace Leeds. Tim Sierks moved nominations ceased, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Billy Barthel will receive the $500 Seidel Scholarship.
Winners of the Pony Express/Platte Valley Auto $500 Scholarships are Chanda Davis & Garrette Nallion.
Nominations for Bow Booterie are – Alexis Martinsen, Josh Cadenbach. Rita Dobbins moved nominations ceased, seconded by Kelly Blevins. Alexis Martinsen will receive the Bow Booterie certificate.
Dale Arensdorf moved to nominate Loren Gorsuch as President. Lori Schafer moved nominations ceased. Motion carried. Loren Gorsuch will be the 2007-08 president
Lori Schafer moved to nominate Tim Cover as Vice President.
Shea Henderson moved to nominate Darrell Kraupie as Vice President.
Kelli Blevins moved nominations ceased, seconded by Rita Dobbins.
Tim Cover will be the 2007-08 Vice President.
Lori Schafer moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Motion carried.

Special Director’s Meeting
June 23, 2007
The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held a special directors meeting Saturday, June 23, 2007. Directors present were Dale D. Arensdorf, Kelli Blevins, Tim Cover, Adam Cross, Rita Dobbins, JD Hoover, Darrell Kraupie, Mark Lovitt, Robin Meier, Lori Schafer, Tim Sierks, Tricia Schaffer, and Andy Wearin. Secretary Becky Dailey. Mary McCrea and Ted Wertz with MT Photography.
President Loren Gorsuch called the meeting to order at 9:09 AM.
MT Photography met with the board concerning their sponsorship with Nebraska High School Rodeo Association.
Discussion was held on photographers for the calendar.
Mark Lovitt moved that if the event champions do not have their pictures turned in to Rita Dobbins or Lori Schafer by July 2 we would hold their money for nationals, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Motion carried.
Dale D. Arensdorf moved to offer MT a $1500 in kind sponsorship for a total of $2500 in sponsorship. Motion died for lack of second.
Lori Schafer moved to provide a written agreement to anyone that provides grant writing for the association and that they have no control of the funds and will not receive any compensation, seconded by Mark Lovitt.
Rita Dobbins moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Tim Cover. Meeting adjourned.
