Nebraska High School Rodeo Association Directors Meeting February 17, 2008 Hyannis The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held their general membership meeting Sunday, February 17, 2008 in Hyannis at the Evans Building. President Loren Gorsuch called the meeting to order. Board members present were Kelli Blevins, Tim Cover, Adam Cross, Cindy Coffman, JD Hoover, Darrel Kraupie, Mark Lovitt, Lori Schafer, Tim Sierks, Andy Wearin, and Tricia Schaffer. Student directors present were President Sadie Cross, Duell Arensdorf, Loncey Johnson, Brandon Swanson, Jordan Lovitt, Lane Wood, Shaley Millsap, and Callie Schafer and secretary’s Becky Dailey and Nancy Edelman. Tricia Schaffer moved to approve the minutes of the January 13, 2008 meeting, seconded by Lori Schafer. Motion passed. Financial Report; Award $12,747.57 General $6,842.62 Student $5,130.27 Endowment $305.00 Calendar $33,183.82 Tim Cover moved to approve the financial report, seconded by Lori Schafer. Motion passed. ETV television plans on televising the 2008 state finals. Tricia moved that the starting time for the short-go on Saturday, June be left up to the Hastings committee, seconded by Andy Wearin. Motion passed. 12 Yeas, 0 Nays. Motion carried. Andy Wearin moved we have Jeanne Morgan put our program book together, seconded by JD Hoover. Motion carried. Andy Wearin moved to purchase the excess medical insurance for the volunteers effective for our spring season, seconded by Darrell Kraupie. 11 Yeas, 1 Nay. Motion carried. Tricia Schaffer reported on the national mid winter meeting. Sadie Cross & Callie Schafer reported on their trip to the national meeting. They were both very thankful to the association for letting them attend the meeting. Tricia Schaffer presented a bill in the amount of $663.06 for their expenses for the national mid winter meeting. Darrell Kraupie moved to reimburse Tricia Schaffer in the amount of $663.06 for expenses incurred at the national mid winter meeting, seconded by Cindy Coffman. 12 Yea, 0 Nay. Motion carried. Mike & Shawna Winchell have offered to meet with the new members and welcome them to the association and inform them of the procedures and opportunities within our association. Tim Cover moved to reimburse Mike & Shawna Winchell for the cost they will incur with the Welcome Wagon, seconded by Andy Wearin. 10 Yeas, 2 Nay. Motion carried. Sadie Cross, student president, suggested having a safety seminar and an equipment check at Imperial on Saturday, after the rodeo. Discussion was held on the cost of hosting a qualifying rodeo. Callie Schafer suggested we need to change when we vote on the judge, secretary and rodeo of the year. Mark Lovitt moved to not have a judge, secretary and rodeo of the year, seconded by Darrell Kraupie. 6 Yea, 5 Nay, 1 abstain. Motion carried. Darrell Kraupie reported that we cannot elect directors by ballot due to our by-laws. Darrell Kraupie moved to update the bylaws to read voting of directors by ballot and to update the duties of secretary’s. Motion failed for lack of second. Kelli Blevins moved to purchase the 2008 state finals saddles from Tod Sloan with a bid of $19,945 reason being because he is a national sponsor and his bid was the lowest, and have the saddles present at state finals, seconded by Adam Cross. 11 Yeas, 1 Nay. Motion carried. Motion carried. Next meeting. Friday, May 30, at Stubb’s in Thedford at 7:00. Accounts Receivable Report. It was reported that no money has been received from the Overy family in regards to money owed to the association from the National finals travel money. A bill will be sent to the family. No money has been received from Will Callahan, for a scholarship that he pledged from Walco during our 2007 Winter Banquet Auction. Mark Lovitt was going to check on the situation.
