General Membership Meeting

June 26, 2009

Hasting, NE

The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held the general membership meeting June 26, 2009.  President LuAnn Werdel called the meeting to order.  Meeting was opened with a prayer by Mark Peterson.  Board members present were Kelli Blevins, Makala Butterfield, Tim Cover, Cindy Coffman, Loren Gorsuch, Joe Lemmon, Mark Lovitt, Mark Peterson, Tim Sierks, Andy Wearin, Tricia Schaffer, Nancy Edelman and Becky Dailey.

Minutes of the November 1, 2008 meeting were read and approved as read.

Financial Report

            General -         $9,053.95

            Award -           $10,997.98

            Student -         $9,905.80

            Endowment     $605.00

Director nominations for 1 year term

            Loren Gorsuch nominated Tim Cover

            Andy Wearin nominated Troy Pruitt

            Mary Pease nominated Jim Sybrant

Tricia Schaffer moved nominations ceased, seconded by Shirley Osborne.

Tim Cover was elected for 1 year term.

Director nominations for 2 year term

            Shelli Arensdorf nominated Gail Cunningham

            Charlie Holthus nominated Doug Hinman

            Tim Cover nominated Troy Pruitt

            Tricia Schaffer nominated Deb Frasier

Loren Gorsuch moved nominations ceased, seconded by Tom Phillips.

Troy Pruitt was elected for 2 year term.

Director nominations for 3 year term

            Georgeann Wearin nominated Gordon Simonson

            Kirk Swanson nominated Mark Cumpton

            Loren Gorsuch nominated Rod Nelson

            Shelli Arensdorf nominated Gail Cunningham

            Martee Pruitt nominated Mark Peterson

Tricia Schaffer moved nominations cease, seconded by Joe Lemmon.

Gordon Simonson, Rod Nelson, Doug Hinman was elected for 3 year terms.

Lori Schafer reported on the calendar fund.

Shawna Winchell reported on the flamingo news.  They raised $1,361 and paid out $1,300.

Cindy Coffman reported that $18,580 will be distributed to 44 seniors for scholarships.

The general membership would like to have cutting mandatory at the rodeos.

 Comments and discussion from the adult membership included the following topics:

            Cutting judges

            Year-end all around point system

            Tagging of goats for the draw at the qualifying rodeos

Charlie Holthus moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Alan Snider.  Motion carried.
