MONEY
Where Does It Go?
General Fund-Your membership fees
are deposited into this account along with banquet ticket sales and any
miscellaneous income that does not have a designated area. The
expenses paid from this account include the secretary's wage, postage,
telephone, non-profit organization liability insurance, donations,
reimbursement for travel, and other miscellaneous expenses. Our
secretary is the only individual paid a wage and she receives $19 per
member.
Scholarship Fund-These funds are used to pay out the scholarships that
the state association awards. The major source of income is from the
auction held at our fall banquet. The money is put into a CD and held
for two years until it is paid out.
Sponsor/Award Fund-All money received from our state sponsors is
deposited to this account. Also, of the $3.00 that goes back to the
state from each entry fee at every qualifying rodeo, $2.00 goes to this
fund. The awards given at state finals are funded by this
account. This past year, we were able to award year-end awards to
fifth place.
Student Fund-Money from calendar sales, the remaining $1.00 of the
$3.00 from each entry fee, and turn-out fines fund this account. Money
goes out of this account by paying for the printing of the calendars,
rewards from the calendar project, and assisting with expenses for students
who have qualified for Nationals.
Endowment Fund
The purpose of the
Endowment Fund is to sustain on a long term basis the Nebraska High School
Rodeo Association to promote education for the youth in Rodeo. This is a
long lasting account with only the interest used to support our youth
through education and awards. Donors are kept permanently within the records
of the associaton. Contributions to this fund are greatly appreciated.
If you would like to preserve our Western Heritage for High
School Students, your gift, or memorial, will be appreciated forever.
Contributions may be sent to: The Nebraska High School Rodeo Endowment Fund,
PO Box 10, Arnold, NE 69120.
Thank you.
WRANGLER HIGH SCHOOL ALL STAR RODEO TEAM
The selection process for the Wrangler All Star Team is conducted by the
National High School Rodeo office. The list is then given to the
state's secretary at the beginning of the rodeo year. The secretary is
to check the membership status of the prospective members.
Wrangler All Star Team members are the top two contestants in an event who
are still members of their state association. The year-end results
from the previous year are used for the determining the members.
Therefore, the results that are sent to the National Office after the 2004
state finals, determine the 2004-2005 team members.
Most often, there will be two team members for each event. In order to
place as many students on the team, a student will fill only one position
for one event. The team roping could have more than four members.
If one member of a team is picked, of the four possible positions, the
partner would also be placed on the Wrangler All Star Team.
The order in which
event they start the selection process can also play a role on who is placed
on the Wrangler All Star Team. The National Office uses data from our
membership totals and determines the number of contestants in our events.
They start with the event that has the least contestants and continue
through the event that has the most contestants.
Members of the
Wrangler All Star Team receive two Wrangler All Star Team shirts and two
pair of Wrangler jeans. The members must sign an agreement stating
they will wear their All Star shirts with Wrangler jeans.
The members of the
current team vote on a male and female member to serve as captains of the
Nebraska Wrangler High School All Star Rodeo Team. This selection
process can be found in the current rule book on pages 107-108.
The Wrangler High School All Star Rodeo Team had its beginnings in the
1997-1998 rodeo season. The selection process has changed somewhat
over the years, but I feel the purpose has always been to recognize the
athletes who have done well in the arena.
