NHSRA Mission Statement

•          Promote the sport of rodeo and the highest type of conduct and sportsmanship and

            expose its positive image to the general public;

•           Preserve the Western Heritage;

•           Offer a privilege of family bonding;

•           Offer an opportunity of continuing education; and

•           Maintain the highest regard for the livestock.

Facts About Our Student Membership

•           These rodeo teens hail from Nebraska as well as a few from Wyoming, Kansas, Colorado, and South Dakota.  All of these kids are members of the Nebraska association.  Membership continues to grow.

•           We believe education in the classroom is important.  Each member must be in good academic standing to be eligible to compete.  However, learning does not stop in the  classroom.  There are many lessons to be learned as they work with livestock.  Responsibility, dependability, and good sportsmanship are just a few of these lessons.

Opportunities for Members

•           There are over 300 high school youth who will participate in 25 qualifying          practice rodeos crossing the state from Harrison to Superior.  The practice rodeos give everyone the opportunity to participate.  You can positively impact their lives by your sponsorship.

 •           The Nebraska High School Rodeo Queen represents the state all year around.

•           The local scholarship program is awarded through an application and interview process.  Everyone that goes through the process receives a scholarship.  This year $12,225. was contributed to the scholarship fund through private donations and the annual Auction, which is held in November at the Winter Banquet.

•           The State Finals Rodeo is the end-of-the-year rodeo event in Nebraska.  Held annually in June, student members compete for state recognition and the chance to qualify for the National Team.  The top 4 contestants in each of the 12 rodeo events qualify for this prestigious team.

•           Finally there is the National High School Finals Rodeo, which is held in July with over 1,500 rodeo teens from 46 states, Canadian provinces, and Australia competing for national titles, awards, and scholarships.
