Grand Island State Fair Showcase Champions
To All Contestants and Parents,
Great weekend of rodeos in Nelson and Grand Island. Both committees put on great rodeos and need to be commended for their efforts. Please remember to take the time at each rodeo to thank a committee member or helper. A simple "Thank You" goes a long ways!!
Some things I want to address in regards to turn-outs:
We had some turn-outs last weekend for different reasons and I want to clarify what the rule book says about turn-outs/vet releases.
Please keep in mind if the NHSRA rule book does not cover a rule, we refer back to PRCA/WPRA rule book.
If you are a notified turn out at a rodeo, the rule book states:
"No multi-event contestant may turn out in one event and compete in another in any given paid perf (rodeo). However, if he/she is a NON-NOTIFIED TURN-OUT IN ONE EVENT, he/she may compete in another event. (PRCA RULE R18.104.22.168 pg 195)
Which means if you are on the grounds; and able to compete, and you turn-out or get turned-out for whatever reason, you are to be turned out rest of day and pay the fines.
An example of a non-notified turn-out part of the rule: You have vehicle trouble on the way to the rodeo, and your calf gets turned out, you may still compete in your other events because it is a NON-NOTIFIED TURN-OUT. You will still pay the fine for the one event but, can compete in your other events.
Vet releases are for cutting, poles and barrels due to fact the rule book states no two girls’ (boys in cutting) may compete on same horse in these events. With that said, you cannot use a vet release in any other timed event to get out of turn-out fines. Only in the poles, barrels, and cutting. Make arrangements to ride a different horse or the pay fine.
Hope this helps clarify the turn out rules. Feel free to catch me at the rodeos if you need me to explain further.
Enjoy your weekend off and I'll see you in Callaway!
