Nebraska High School Rodeo Association Directors Meeting May 30, 2008 Thedford
The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held their general membership meeting Friday, May 30, 2008 in Thedford at Stubbs. President Loren Gorsuch called the meeting to order. Board members present were Tim Cover, Adam Cross, Cindy Coffman, JD Hoover, Darrel Kraupie, Mark Lovitt, Lori Schafer, Tim Sierks, Andy Wearin, and Tricia Schaffer. Student directors present were President Sadie Cross and Callie Schafer and secretary’s Becky Dailey and Nancy Edelman. Also, present Teresa Cross, Augustus Cross, Doug Hinman, Todd Adamson, Carol Mowenkel, Bryan Sanford, and Bump Krueger. JD Hoover moved to approve the minutes of the February 17, 2008 meeting, seconded by Sadie Cross. Motion passed. Financial Report; Award $6,574.90 General $13,036.73 Student $5,217.89 Endowment $305.00 Calendar $44,977.27 Tim Sierks moved to approve the financial report, seconded by Lori Schafer. Motion carried. Doug Hinman and Todd Adamson discussed having the state split into regions. Discussion was held to include a letter and the NE High School Rodeo rules with the Wrangler division membership. Callie Schafer would like the board to reconsider the secretary, judge, and rodeo of the year. Andy Wearin moved to rescind previous decision on the secretary, judge, and rodeo of the year, seconded by Tricia Schaffer. Yea 9 Nay 3. Motion carried. Cindy Coffman moved to vote for secretary, judge, and rodeo of the year at state finals, seconded by Tim Cover. Yea 11 Nay 1. Motion carried. Mark Lovitt moved to vote for 3 rodeo’s with the top rodeo winning the award and to vote for 2 secretary’s and judges with the top of each being awarded, seconded by LuAnn Werdel. Yea 11 Nay 1. Motion carried. Discussion was held on entry fees and gate fees. Lori Schafer reported on the bid for the 2009 calendar. Lori has spoken with Print Express and their bid for 2009 is $9,300 for 5,000 calendars and $8,500 for 4,000 calendars. In 2008, we sold 2,921 calendars. Andy Wearin moved to have Print Express print the 2009 calendars and order 4,000 calendars, seconded by LuAnn Werdel. Yea 12 Nay 0. Motion carried. Cindy Coffman moved to sell the state finals program books for $8.00, seconded by LuAnn Werdel. Yea 11 Nay 1. Motion carried. Tricia Schaffer suggested having a disclaimer for the student directory books on the NE High School Rodeo membership form asking if students care to share their info to be published in the directory. Sadie Cross reported on the cowboy prom and said it was a huge success. Adam Cross proposed the following rule change to never run the barrels before the steer wrestling for safety reasons, seconded by Mark Lovitt. Yea 6 Nay 2 Abstain 4. Motion failed. Adam Cross moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Darrell Kraupie. Meeting adjourned.
