Directors Meeting
January 13, 2008

The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held their general membership meeting Sunday, January 13, 2008 in Hyannis at the Catholic Church. President Loren Gorsuch called the meeting to order. Board members present were Kelli Blevins, Tim Cover, Adam Cross, Cindy Coffman, JD Hoover, Darrel Kraupie, Mark Lovitt, Lori Schafer, Tim Sierks, Andy Wearin, Luann Werdell, and Tricia Schaffer. Student directors present were President Sadie Cross, Duell Arensdorf, Chris Buesing, Loncey Johnson, Brandon Swanson, Wyatt Clark, Jordan Lovitt, Whitten Hoover, Buck Moon, Lane Wood, Shaley Millsap, Samantha Chytka; National Student President, Wyatt Clark and secretary’s Becky Dailey and Nancy Edelman. Present from the Hastings committee were Justin Osborne and Dave Rethorst.
Darrell Kraupie moved to approve the minutes of the November 3, 2007 meeting, seconded by Lori Schafer. Motion passed.

Darrell Kraupie moved to transfer 10% of the June 7, 2007 balance in the general account to the endowment account, seconded by Andy Wearin. Motion carried. The balance as of June 7, 2007 was $18,454.56
Discussion was held on stock contractors bringing the adequate number of stock to the qualifying rodeos. Darrell Kraupie moved to leave stock contractors contract as is, seconded by Andy Wearin. Motion carried.
Dave Rethorst and Justin Osborne reported on the 2008 state finals. They have commitments for announcer, judges, timers, and stock contractors. Dave will contact ETV to see if the finals will be televised.
Hastings was the only committee submitting a bid for the 2009-2010 state finals. The dates for 2009 will be June 23-27 with check in on June 23. Darrell Kraupie moved to accept the contract for the 2009-2010 with the Hastings committee, seconded by JD Hoover. Motion carried.
Siri Stevens with “The Rodeo News” magazine presented their magazine to the board as using it for our newsletter. Mark Lovitt moved to have The Fencepost as our official newsletter, seconded by Andy Wearin. Motion carried. Georgeann Wearin has volunteered to be the media contact for the association. Darrell Kraupie moved to greatly accept Georgeann Wearin’s proposal to be the association media contact, seconded by Tim Cover. Motion passed.
Student President Sadie Cross reported that they would like to keep cowboy prom in Valentine.
Discussion was held on the current by-laws. Darrell Kraupie proposed updating the current by-laws.
Andy Wearin moved to purchase Quick Books, seconded by Darrell Kraupie. Motion carried.
Paul Cleveland will instruct a judge’s clinic on January 20, 2008 in North Platte from 9:00 – 3:00.
Tim Sierks moved to adjourn meeting, seconded by Andy Wearin. Motion carried.
