Directors Meeting
January 7, 2007
The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held their directors meeting Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Thedford. The meeting was called to order by President Loren Gorsuch. Board members present were Mark Lovitt, Tim Sierks, Dale D. Arensdorf, Tim Cover, Tricia Schaffer, Rita Dobbins, Lori Schafer, Darrell Kraupie, Kelli Blevins, J.D. Hoover, Adam Cross and Robin Meier. Secretary’s Nancy Edelman and Becky Dailey. Student directors Shea Henderson, Destri Millsap, Jordan Lovitt, and Duell Arensdorf.
Minutes of the November 10, 2006 minutes were read. Mark Lovitt moved to approve the amended minutes, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Motion carried

Tricia Schaffer presented copies of the annual scholarship report.
Discussion was held on scholarship interviews and changes to the scholarship application. Darrell Kraupie moved to table the discussion, seconded by Rita Dobbins. Motion carried.
Discussion was held on the parking and safety at the rodeos. JD Hoover amended his motion to have Nancy Edelman draft a letter to be sent on approval of the board to the rodeo committees concerning safety concerns and other issues, seconded by Mark Lovitt. Motion carried.
Judges seminar is scheduled for sometime in February at Thedford. Loren Gorsuch commented that it should be the judge’s responsibility to keep record of the scores and penalty’s, not the student or adult directors responsibility.
Loren Gorsuch received a bid for $19,460 from Tod Slone Saddlery for the 2007 state finals trophy saddles.
Shea Henderson reported on the cowboy prom. She tentatively has it sat for May 26, 2007 at Valentine. Shea has checked into a location, DJ, and a photographer. They would charge admission to help cover costs. Robin Meier, Kelli Blevins, Tim Sierks, and Mark Lovitt have volunteered to sponsor the dance.
Discussion was held on bids received for the 2007 winter banquet. Dale D. Arensdorf moved to have the banquet at the Holiday Inn Express in North Platte on November 3, 2007, seconded by Tim Sierks. Motion carried.
Broke for Lunch
NHSRA board of directors reconvened at 1:30 PM from lunch.
Discussion was held on the point system. In regards to the point system at state finals – top two averages qualify after the top 10 on points, if no average in 11-30 no average qualifications.
Darrell Kraupie moved that when the CD 507592 matures that it be transferred to the endowment fund checking account, seconded by Lori Schafer. Motion carried.
Lori Schafer moved to transfer 10% of the balance, $21,000, of the general account as of July 1, 2006 to the endowment fund checking account, seconded by Adam Cross. Motion carried.
Adam Cross moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Tim Sierks. Motion carried.
