Directors Meeting

April 1, 2007

The Nebraska High School Rodeo Association held their directors meeting Sunday, April 1, 2007 at North Platte.  The meeting was called to order by President Loren Gorsuch.  Board members present were Dale D. Arensdorf, Kelli Blevins, Tim Cover, J.D. Hoover, Mark Lovitt, Robin Meier, Tricia Schaffer, and Tim Sierks.  Secretary’s Nancy Edelman and Becky Dailey.

Minutes of the February 4, 2007 minutes were approved as read.

Discussion was held on the state finals schedule.  The following is the schedule for the 2007 state finals.

We will recognize each class along with the grand entry of sponsor flags.  We will not have each class have a grand entry of their own.

Shea Henderson suggested that the NHSRA set up a booth at the State FFA tradeshow and also sponsor an award at State FFA.  Shea will check into giving an award.

Tricia Schaffer has ordered the Gist Buckles.  The second place winner for year-end runner-up will receive $150.

National director term expires this year.  National director term is for 5 years.  The state association needs to send a letter to the national office by state finals to either re-appointment current director or elect a new director.

Dale Arensdorf moved to advertise for national director in the Fencepost.  Anyone interested needs to notify Loren Gorsuch by May 1, seconded by JD Hoover.  Motion passed.

National Office is asking for contributions for their NHSRA office complex and museum. Tabled until state finals meeting.

Discussion was held on the photographers at state finals.  Mark Lovitt moved to give the rights of the NHSRA spur logo to the photographer who comes up with the largest cash donation, seconded by Dale D. Arensdorf.  Motion carried.

Shea Henderson discussed having a meeting @ Imperial with the students and parents.

Discussion was held on holding safety seminars at Imperial.

Shea Henderson moved to have a safety seminar in conjunction with the calendar awards after the rodeo at Imperial, seconded by Kelli Blevins.  Motion carried.

JD Hoover moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Tim Cover.  Motion carried.

Next meeting Burwell following the Saturday performance.
